Laurens County, ca. 1915. Caroline Henderson. She was a midwife and lived at the home of T. J. Perry. She had been a slave and died at about the age of 90 ca. 1918-1920.

Caroline Henderson was a young girl when the war ended.  She was on the farm of a man who had not treated her well, but she had heard of a very nice man who had a farm down the road.  She went to Mr. Perry's place and asked if she could live there.  He told her she could and that he would build her a cabin if she would help take care of the children. She lived the rest of her life there. Thomas Jefferson Perry

This is the Caroline's cabin as it was when we dismantled it in December 2002.  It had been moved to a vacant lot across the street from it's original location
