Fall Farm Day at Pineola Farms -
Peach County, Georgia
The Best Free Heritage Festival You May Never Have Heard Of
Fort Valley, Ga/USA
Nestled against a large grove of pecan trees in
south Peach County, historic Pineola Farms is a window into the past.
From the rustic elegance of the renovated Cotton Barn to the
authenticity of the old-fashioned chicken coop, the farm is a throwback
to a simpler, gentler time.
Determined to share the bounteous beauty of their
home, Pineola Farms owners Paul and Delise Knight mount a free one-day
heritage festival on the first Saturday of every October. A host of
artisans, performers and demonstrators gather at the farm each year for
the Fall Farm Day Festival. The focus is on families and on
creating memories.
Although the Knights have been hosting a fall
festival on their property for the better part of a decade, it is still
one of the best-kept secrets in the festival world. With antique
tractors, hit and miss engines and farm vehicles, the “little festival
that could” is a delight for both adult and child visitors.
The festival features plowing demonstrations, a
tractor parade, and all day hayrides. Each child is treated to his or
her own free pumpkin, which they may paint at the popular pumpkin
painting station. Entertainment includes music and a 1860s dance troupe.
Food vendors include a chuck wagon, boiled peanuts, homemade desserts
and Fresh Air Barbecue. Heritage artisans such as a rabbit hair spinner,
a quilt maker, a potter and a tree ware bowl and trough crafter will
demonstrate their crafts and sell their wares.
