Blue Bedroom

The Blue bedroom was Miss Henriette Bassett’s bedroom. Many of her daughters were born here. This room has taken on an Itallian influence mixed with American pieces.

Half Tester Bed

This bed was manufactured for a plantation in Abbeville, LA by a company in Mississippi in the mid to late 1800s with an ornate headboard.

The height of the bed makes it appear to be smaller than it actually is. The mattress is a standard-size double bed.

Canopy Beds are traditionally used to help retain heat and maximize privacy. They came into fashion in early Medieval Europe primarily for their functionality rather than their style. Keeping warm and secure was very important at night and such beds were commonly a sign of wealth and affluence. Large heavy and highly embroidered curtains originally adorned both sides. Half Tester beds became more common in the late 1800s.

Ceiling Mural

The Ceiling Mural was painted by Carla Ceravolo in Milan, Italy. It was commissioned for Bob Slack, owner of The Great Gatsby’s auction house in Atlanta, GA, and purchased by the Knights in 2003 and installed by Wesley Cook in 2017. See The Video Here

It is painted on a single canvas and is attached to the ceiling with a clay-based adhesive.

Murano Glass Lighting

The Murano Glass chandelier and matching sconce lights were also purchased at The Great Gatsby antique auction in Atlanta.
Murano Glass is glass that is produced in Murano, Italy, an island very close to Venice. It is one of the most refined and renowned types of crafts worldwide.

This bedroom is painted Aqua Sparkle (PPG1150-1) - we matched the color to samples we pulled from the wall during the restoration.
