Front Door

The front door is a mirror image of what would have been the back door at the end of the hall before the kitchen was attached to the main house. This design is known as a dog trot or a shotgun style. The doors are made of heart pine that was cut from the property when the house was first built. You will notice how large the doors are. This would have allowed the breeze to blow through the house on hot sunny days…

About the Hall
The hall and the butler’s pantry are painted in Lyndhurst Eve - a National Trust color. They have changed the name to Young Willow. This color is taken from Lyndhurst Mansion also known as the Jay Gould Estate - 635 S Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591
