Here are some of the things we changed on our 2020 Grand Design 29rs to make it feel more comfortable and functional for us.

A lot of inspiration for the colors in our unit came from a trip to Yellowstone. We just loved the prismatic pools and hot springs.

Bedroom Changes

Changed the lights on the side of the bed - Took out headboard and shelf - Added wallpaper - Added USB ports - Added coat rack - Removed bedroom door - Hung pictures - Removed valance over window shade.
Details - The lights are from Amazon. Peel and stick wallpaper - Amazon Link. Door pulls are listed below.

Bedroom

Here you can see our coat rack that we were able to mount after we removed the bedroom door. Removing the window valance and the door really opened up that side of the bed.

In the bathroom, we added a shelf and hooks for towels.

Living Room

Sofa Upgrade - We took 1 trip with the sofa and recliners and decided to replace them with something a little brighter and more comfortable. These sofas are modular so we could easily assemble them in the camper. We purchased ours from Home Depot, although it looks like they are discontinued. We did find these listed online - Wayfair link - They are a little bigger than ours.

Easy Upgrade for Cabinets

The door and drawer hardware were easy to change and made a huge difference in the look and feel of the cabinets. Make sure you measure the distance between the screws to get the correct fit. Amazon Link for fancy pulls - Amazon Link for square pulls.

Wire Mesh In Doors
This took a little more time. The hardest part was removing the glass that is glued or siliconed in the door. We heated it and slid a box knife between the glass and the door. We cut the mesh to fit and hot-glued it in.
Home Depot link for the mesh.

Wallpaper

The wallpaper makes a huge difference and is fairly easy to install since it is peel-and-stick. It works well on smooth surfaces. We did have to apply some wallpaper glue to get it to stay on the textured walls. Peel and stick wallpaper - Amazon Link

Hutch Makeover

We took the doors off the hutch and wallpapered the backsplash and behind the shelves. We do lay down some of the items but most everything rides fine where it is.
The baskets on top make for great extra storage. We found them at TJ Max.

Removed the End Cabinets

The original end cabinets were hard to access. We removed them and put an end table next to the sofa. The table has a large drawer that is much more usable. We added a basket underneath for extra storage - we screwed it to the shelf to keep it in place.
There were power plugs under the end cabinets that we moved to surface mounted plugs on the floor.

Window Valances

We are not a fan of the window valances and felt like they make the unit feel short inside. We removed all but the 2 in the dining area. We wish we could have ordered our unit without them. They were a little challenging to remove without damaging the walls. We repaired and filled the screw holes with a DAP Blend Stick. We also repositioned some of the roller shades for a better look.

Dining Area

We removed the bench seat, backrest, and chairs. We replaced the chairs with some that we found at Pier One Imports. We replaced the puck lights with hanging cage lights with 12-volt bulbs. We left the top valances and added some trim. We are looking at options to replace the table. The large base is very hard to get around.

Kitchen

We added potato baskets to the end of the island. We also added a hat rack over the entry door, baskets over the bar, and levels on the wall.

More Interior Upgrades.

Added shoe rack on the end of the bar at the door.

Future upgrades - New dining table with a smaller base.
There is a lot of room behind the tv that we want to figure out how to use.

Exterior Upgrades

Disc brakes and suspension by Performance Trailer Braking Dexter Disc Brakes, Moryde Suspension upgrade, SRE2-735X, MORryde UO12-016 Heavy Duty Wet Bolt Kit, and 3 X-Factor Cross Members. The disc brakes are amazing. We can stop so much faster.

Pinbox - MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box w/ Lippert 1621HD. Takes out a lot of the bucking.

Additional Sewer Hose Storage - PVC Fence post, caps, and homemade brackets. Link, Not my video but I did use the Magnetic caps.

LED Tail and running lights.

Water heater and furnace bug Screens.

We removed about half of the stickers from the exterior. We think it looks a lot cleaner.

400 AH Lithium Batteries, Solar Controller, Victron Multiplus, 1320 Watts of solar on the roof by the Dry Campers.

Mopeka Propane Tank Sensors - Link I love these. They take the guesswork out of propane levels.

EezTire TPMS

We removed the outdoor refrigerator and TV. We opened up the space behind some walls to make a kayak storage bay. We have a Sea Eagle inflatable kayak and can fit everything we need in this compartment now.

Weather station - Tempest weather. A new concept in weather stations with no moving parts. Perfect for rv’s. We mounted ours on a fiberglass flagpole.
