Speakers
Josh Taylor - Saturday 11 AM
Composting, Vermiculture, and Soil Health
When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, Josh’s response was that he “just wanted to play outside”. Luckily for him, now he gets to do just that! Working in gardens most of his life has taught Josh that soil health is the foundation of any garden, and in the last few years, he has been developing his compost and worm farm operation at the nursery “Everyday Farm & Garden”. Josh will share with you the importance of healthy soil and how you can “complete the circle” in your own garden.
Jody Kemp - Saturday 1 PM
Raised Beds
Raised beds are versatile and can take many different forms. From being frames on the ground to being elevated, a raised bed can be used to grow vegetables and flowers year-round. Because they are elevated, they can make it easier for individuals with mobility problems, but who still want to get their hands in the soil. They can be purchased ready-to-assemble or fabricated out of lumber.
Raised beds can easily be intercropped, so as to provide an attractant for pollinators.
Mr. Jody Kemp has taught Agriculture for 31 years in several counties in Central and Southeast Georgia. He moved back to Peach County in 2018 and is currently the Young Farmer Teacher at Peach County High School. He has been involved in some aspect of agriculture most of his life, from home gardening, working on a row crop farm, processing meat, and working with livestock. Through the Young Farmer Program, adults are provided with learning opportunities in the world of agriculture. Follow at Peach County Young Farmers!
Linda May - Saturday 3 PM
Creating Backyard Habitats for Birds
Whether you have a big yard or just a balcony, learn ways you can help birds by providing food, water, shelter and nesting spaces. You will be rewarded with better birdwatching right outside your window and the satisfaction of knowing you’re contributing to statewide wildlife conservation efforts!
Linda May is the outreach coordinator for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA DNR) Wildlife Resources Division and has worked on behalf of wildlife for 31 years. She teaches diverse audiences about our state’s amazing wild animals and their habitats, specifically fostering awareness of and appreciation for nongame species – the 95% of creatures in Georgia that are not fished for, hunted, or trapped. Wildlife like birds, bats, frogs, turtles, and even snakes play important ecological roles and bring us delight. Through environmental education, she empowers others to help conserve Georgia’s rare species and keep common species common.
Nikki Taylor - Sunday 1 PM
Herbs and Edible Weeds
Nikki Taylor of Everyday Farm & Garden
Nikki is a proud Peach County Native. She believes that all plants have a purpose, and has a passion for pollinator perennials and medicinal herbs. Herbs can serve multiple purposes in your garden, and even those that get a bad rap in the garden have benefits to both us and pollinators.
Joe Money - Sunday 3 PM
Joe will present on the importance of bees in our ecosystem. He will also discuss the reason for the population decline.
Joe and Kristen's passion for beekeeping started unexpectedly in 2012 when they found a massive beehive inside the wall of their home! After witnessing the power (and incredibly sticky mess) of a thriving hive, they were hooked on bees. Their fascination and knowledge have grown over the years as they expanded their apiary from 3 hives to hundreds of hives hosted in many different locations around Middle Georgia. As a certified beekeeper through the UGA Master Beekeepers program and a licensed Commercial Beekeeper through the GA Department of Agriculture, Money's Honey offers beekeeping classes and sells honeybees to other aspiring beekeepers while still producing local honey that everyone enjoys so much.

Delise Knight
Delise and her husband, Paul, are the owners of Pineola Farms and Delise is one of our featured designers. She has been involved with floral installations for as long as she remembers. She was the head designer for weddings at the farm for over 10 years and helped make dreams come true for hundreds of brides. She loves thinking “outside the box”. Delise is proud to have transformed Pineola into her very own “picking garden”. Most plants in the garden come with a story, as many of them were given to her by dear friends over the years. Delise’s love for horticulture began at a very young age as she enjoyed working with her grandfather on the family farm.
