The Flower Fantasy 2022
1. Foyer
As you enter the Great Hall, be reminded of how many people have passed through this door before you. This Hall is much like a gallery, with paintings that are photographs in time and 650 Monarch butterflies. Life is not always about the destination it is more about the journey. The 2500-mile journey the monarch makes is not only about the destination, it’s about survival, preservation, and continuation. Enjoy your Journey, make it with your eyes wide open, you don’t want to miss a thing.
2. Morning Room
This room is the first room to receive sunlight each morning. Throughout the history of this home, it has always been the room to receive Guests. The warm colors make it the brightest and most perfect morning room.
Horticulture has always inspired every avenue of our lives. From the colors we choose to paint our home to the fabrics we use to make our clothing. I guess you could say that horticulture is woven into our lives. We hang paintings on our walls of landscapes or florals, so we thought it was only fitting that in this room we let the art of flowers speak for itself.
3. Dining Room
The table is set for a feast, with antique China that belonged to the Bassett Family. The color of the walls is Eufaula Geranium Red, a National Historic Trust color. Being truly connected with one another in this world of devices is not an easy task. The dining table was always a place where you could voice your opinion and have discussions and learn more about each other. It is a place where families come together, with no other distractions, and in this special place, they are able to bridge the gap. The bamboo used in this display comes from the local Jones Garden and is a mixture of Black bamboo and horsetail reed.
4. Master Bedroom
This room contains modern art along with old masters. The color of this room is Rhett Pumpkin, it is the original color from the Nathaniel Russell House in Charleston.
Nature sure has a way of repairing itself, left alone it can erase so many things. Nature is resilient, it is forgiving, it is determined and it is smart. Sometimes we don’t notice its beauty because we are too busy trying to control it, it does not like to be controlled or confined, it likes to run its own course.
5. Blue Bedroom
As you enter this room please notice the Murano glass chandelier and sconces, we have always been intrigued with the art of glass. The ceiling is adorned with a handpainted canvas from an artist in Milan Italy, and that seems to be the theme of this room with the Italian handpainted furniture.
Keep your head in the clouds as you live each day, giving yourself permission to dream and dream big - Keeping your feet on the ground but Believing the sky is the limit.
6. Twin Bedroom
Two twin beds and the 12 seasons of flowers are something every Southern home should have. Beautiful Red Poppies adorn the Aubusson sofa, and a handpainted Mural of Saint Marks Square adds the perfect touch.
This is a different kind of flower bed. A bed is a place to rejuvenate, refresh and prepare. Getting out of bed every day begins with an act of courage and hope, knowing that beauty awaits. Every day when you awaken you have an opportunity to bloom……….
7. Kitchen
The kitchen is located in the same place it has been for over 150 years. The farm table is set with Georgia plates created by the Transylvania Club of Sandersville. They are the Official Historical Plates of Georgia and are used in the Governor’s mansion and have also been used in the White House. These plates are still sold today and are produced in pink and blue.
8. Keeping Room
The chandelier is a hand-carved nautical theme from Belgium. In the room is a large ship’s binnacle, many weathervanes, and weather instruments along with several other nautical pieces, and a bison overseas it all.
This installation is made of broom straw, pampas grass, palm fronds husk, and River birch logs.
Somethings burning - We all have a burning desire, interest, or burning love and it can take over our lives and fill our spaces. A Burning desire is necessary in order to achieve any sort of success, so embrace it. Whatever you are “Burning” to do, use it for great things. Let the burning spill over in your life.
Thank you so much for supporting youth education in horticulture.
