The Flower Fantasy 2023 - Dream…
To dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind during sleep. A dreamer is one who believes in a world of fantasy and imagination. Dreams can be stories and images that our minds create while we sleep. They can be fun, entertaining, romantic, and sometimes bizarre.
A dream is also a thought, or desire that someone hopes to achieve. Daydreaming is getting lost in the thought of another place another time. As you tour the flower fantasy today, we hope that you are transported in the dreams of what we’ve created. It is our dream that you are inspired, intrigued, confused, and motivated all at the same time…. Dreams are as unique as the people that have them.
1. Foyer
As you enter the Great Hall, be reminded of how many people have passed through this door before you. This Hall is much like a gallery, with paintings that are photographs in time.
Some people believe that a tree represents a dreamer. The roots are the deep foundations of our existence, while the leaves in the branches represent different aspects of our life. A tree covered in blooms signifies blooming in your life a dream of good things ahead sitting at the base of a tree and daydreaming is a perfect pastime.
2. Morning Room
This room is the first room to receive sunlight each morning. Throughout the history of this home, it has always been the room to receive Guests. The warm colors make it the brightest and most perfect morning room.
The perfect flower gardener’s dream would be that every time you opened a door or a drawer the aroma, the sensation of color ….. flowers blooming from the most unexpected places. I am sure that all avid gardeners dream in vivid colors.
3. Dining Room
The table is set for a feast, with antique China that belonged to the Bassett Family. The color of the walls is Eufaula Geranium Red, a National Historic Trust color.
As many as 811 million people go to bed hungry every night. We all dream of feeding the world. In this display imagine you were sitting at the table and the person framed on the other side is in need of food. That food is only an arm’s length away. A Farmer’s dream is that they can meet that need. A dream of abundance and bounty of life.
4. Owners Bedroom
This room contains modern art along with old masters. The color of this room is Rhett Pumpkin, it is the original color from the Nathaniel Russell House in Charleston.
To be carried away! To float high above it all, enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the Earth below with a bed floating in the clouds. Imagine that monarchs are taking you to another place. Dreaming of the monarch’s journey, and tagging along on the journey.
5. Blue Bedroom
As you enter this room please notice the Murano glass chandelier and sconces, we have always been intrigued by the art of glass. The ceiling is adorned with a handpainted canvas from an artist in Milan Italy, and that seems to be the theme of this room with the Italian handpainted furniture.
The Crowning jewels above the blue bed are made up of palm fronds and peacock feathers that signify a crown. The crown is the ultimate symbol of success. To dream of a crown is to acknowledge your own success and to recognize your ability to forge ahead in life.
Be sure to check out the throne in the bathroom.
6. Twin Bedroom
Two twin beds and the 12 seasons of flowers are something every Southern home should have. Beautiful Red Poppies adorn the Aubusson sofa, and a handpainted Mural of Saint Marks Square adds the perfect touch.
It is commonly believed that the iconic dream catcher is meant to protect sleepers from bad dreams by catching them, and letting good dreams pass through. It is much like a filter that only allows positive dreams to occur. How wonderful it would be if we had a filter that only allowed the best of us to be shown. Dreaming of being kinder.
7. Kitchen
The kitchen is located in the same place it has been for over 150 years. The farm table is set with Georgia plates created by the Transylvania Club of Sandersville. They are the Official Historical Plates of Georgia and are used in the Governor’s mansion and have also been used in the White House. These plates are still sold today and are produced in pink and blue.
8. Keeping Room
The chandelier is a hand-carved nautical theme from Belgium. In the room is a large ship’s binnacle, many weathervanes, and weather instruments along with several other nautical pieces, and a bison oversees it all.
Earth day. There’s no better way to celebrate Earth Day than getting lost in the woods. Sometimes the dream of finding ourselves requires us to get lost. When in the woods, take the time, to marvel at the wonder you never know what you’ll see.
Thank you so much for supporting youth education in horticulture.
